Numbers alone rarely answer a business question. In this part you upload the documents that explain them — definitions, policies, playbooks — into a folder in Files. In the next part you build a knowledge base from this folder.

Before you start

1. Open Files

Click Files on the left navigation rail. The page has three tabs: Stay on the Workspace tab, so the whole team — and the knowledge base you build next — can use the documents.

2. Create a folder

  1. Click New folder.
  2. Enter a folder name and click Create.
  3. Click the folder to open it.

3. Upload the documents

Choose one of these:
  • Click Upload and select the files.
  • Click Upload folder and select a folder from your computer.
  • Drag files or folders onto the list.
Each file can be up to 100 MiB by default; your administrator can change this limit.

4. Check the files

Click a file to open it in the preview pane. Files supports previews of Markdown, CSV and TSV, images and SVG, PDF, HTML, Excel (.xlsx) and PowerPoint (.pptx). Use the Preview and Source toggle to switch between the rendered view and the raw content.
To move a file, drag it onto a folder or onto a breadcrumb. Deleted files go to Recently deleted, where you can restore them if the workspace keeps a trash.
A CSV, TSV or Parquet file in Files can also be a Data source: in Data, click Connect source and choose Workspace files. Queries read the file as it is now, with no copy. See Use files.

What you built

  • A folder of reference documents on the Workspace tab of Files, ready to become a knowledge base.
